Dr Katherine Stuart graduated from the University of Queensland in 1989. Post graduate training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology was completed at the Mater and Royal Brisbane Hospitals before moving to London where she worked with Professor Roger Williams at the Institute of Hepatology. Upon returning to Brisbane she completed a Hepatology Liver Transplant Fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and was awarded NHMRC funding for her PhD investigating iron accumulation in cirrhosis. Katherine continues her research interest trialling new treatments for viral hepatitis.

Katherine has been the Director of Physician Training and subsequently Director of Hepatology at Princess Alexandra Hospital. She is a senior member of the Queensland Liver Transplant Service and sits on the executive of the Australian Liver Association. In addition to these public roles, Katherine has been offering her wealth of experience in private consultation, endoscopy services and inpatient care at Greenslopes Private Hospital for over a decade.
